My research foundations for 2022 are to put names on thirteen of my 64 4th great-grandparents who are brick walls. I do have strong clues for several, and I will prioritize my efforts with those.

Several of my ancestors have surnames that change over time. There are a few methods that can be employed to find records of the variant spellings of surnames.

There is no shortage of free genealogy research materials to be found online, and offline. You just need to look or ask.
Cousin Bait
I have posted old family photos, transcribed documents, and blog posts online with surname tags in order to attract cousins. Among genealogists, this is known as “Cousin Bait.”
Fortune
While collecting sources for an ancestor, I found strong contradictory evidence against her being my ancestor. What good fortune this prompt came along! It has led me to find this misinformation and correct the record.
In The Kitchen
When I was a child, I would sit in the kitchen at my uncle’s home and read his old books, one in-particular I liked, “The Housekeeper’s Handy Book.”
Namesake
My great grandparents had three daughters: Elsie, Roxie and Edith. For many years I assumed they were namesakes of popular fictional characters.
